Men's Basketball Head Coach

From early on in my life, I always knew I wanted to teach. As a student and basketball player at the United States Military Academy, I also trained to become an officer in the United States Army. My senior year, I was captain of the Army's basketball team and following graduation, I served in the Army for five years before I began my coaching career. My college coaching career began with the Indiana Hoosiers as a graduate assistant. From there I returned to West Point as head coach of the Army Cadets. Following five seasons at my alma mater, I was named head coach at Duke University, where I have coached for the past 37 years. I have joined the Blue Devils on the road to five national championships and registered more than 1,000 career wins, the most in NCAA men's basketball history. Certainly, my players helped me to get to this point, for which I will always be grateful. I aim to not only coach basketball, but lead these men to become well educated, strong, successful people on and off the court. I have also had the ultimate honor in our profession- to coach our United States Men's Basketball national team in three Olympic Games (gold medals in 2008, 2012 and 2016). I am humbled to have won 11 gold medals over the years as both assistant and head coach of various USA national teams.
