My research interests are to study the biotransformation of drugs, environmental chemicals and chemical carcinogens. Of particular interest to me are pathways of biotransformation that are implicated in the formation or detoxication of reactive metabolites, and understanding the interactions of xenobiotics that modify the activities of enzymes catalyzing these pathways. I am experienced in using tools of synthetic organic and analytical chemistry, enzymology, pharmacology and toxicology in drug metabolism research, including studies of perinatal development. I have served as PI or co-PI of NIH-funded RO1, R21, RO3 and P42 grants and have experience in leading research teams. I have also served as Co-I of NIH-funded RO1 grants. This broad experience gives me considerable insight into supervision of research and encouragement of students interested in scientific research.
