As Director, Corporate HR and Employee Experience, Kara is a senior strategic HR business partner at Canfor where she executes on the global people strategy for her client portfolios within a workforce of 7000+ in Canada, USA, and Europe. Kara is an accomplished human resources leader, speaker, facilitator, and business partner with progressive experience in unionized and non-unionized environments in private, public, and non-profit sectors. Her passion is diagnosing complex challenges and providing talent solutions for today, and the future, by building strong HR foundations and facilitating monumental shifts in culture through communication, programming, and leadership.Kara is Anishinaabe and mixed settler ancestry, from the Batchewana First Nation, and values the importance of building relationships as strongly as she does a forward thinking and analytical approach to strategic planning and overcoming business challenges. Her belief is that success is found through empowering teams and fostering a culture that encourages collaboration, creativity and belonging to attract and retain the best talent.In addition to her current role, she instructs in the Bachelor of Commerce degree and MBA program at UNBC and is passionate about growing the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders. Supporting community growth, the arts and her profession are important personal priorities for Kara. She serves on many steering committees and peer groups as well as the Board of Directors for the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, the Two Rivers Art Gallery as the Vice-President and is past Chair of the Northern Region for the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources – BC & Yukon.
