Tackling complex problems through multi-disciplinary stakeholder engagement and coordination is among Helen’s greatest strengths. As a former Emergency Department Patient Administrative Associate (PAA) in a Trauma Centre, Helen brings a unique frontline perspective to all of the work she leads. Helen’s approach to policy and plan development is centered on developing rational, best practice models that meet the needs of end-users and the patients they serve.She joined Oak Valley Health in 2022 as an Emergency Preparedness and Risk Specialist, immediately addressing emergency code response improvements and providing recommendations for the existing Incident Management System (IMS) framework to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).Helen transitioned from the Emergency Department to Emergency Preparedness in 2018, playing a critical role in the growth of Sunnybrook’s corporate Code Orange (Mass Casualty Incident) response plan. Helen has led the design, implementation, and execution of several preparedness exercises, ranging from small-scale table-tops to multi-campus fan-out tests, to larger multi-agency exercises.
