Gabriel Sutherland is a Machine Learning Engineer at SCOUT, where he is developing convolutional neural networks that use visible spectrum imagery to predict six-degree-of-freedom position and attitude of nearby spacecraft. Gabe is also a student at Oregon State University, graduating in May 2023 with degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Gabe has experience utilizing deep reinforcement learning at the edge to effect autonomous orbit transfers and intercepts in a simulated orbital environment, and he has worked with precision agriculture UAVs and sounding rockets. In his free time, he enjoys camping, photography, skiing and astronomy.
