Cloud computing is traditionally defined in terms of data and compute virtual services supporting on-demand applications that scale to thousands of simultaneous users. In contrast, High Performance Computing (HPC) is commonly associated with massive supercomputers that run highly parallel programs for small groups of users at a certain time.
