Christopher Gatewood is the founder of Threshold Counsel, where he works with clients in intellectual property matters, startup legal needs, venture capital transactions, and technology law. He also serves as outside, fractional general counsel for businesses with or without an inhouse legal department. His clients at Threshold include international consumer brands and solo founders of startups.
Chris has a broad range of experience in commercial law, including trademarks, copyright, licensing, technology and internet law, private equity and exempt securities, and startup funding, and equity crowdfunding. Chris has written on legal topics for publications including ZDNet.com, SitePoint.com, Richmond Grid magazine, the Virginia Business Law Bulletin, and the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He has spoken to many audiences, university classes, and professional associations about legal topics in his areas of practice, and has presented continuing legal education seminars to attorneys throughout Virginia on topics including intellectual property and social media law. He is also the founder of Name Warden, LLC, a business development data service for trademark lawyers, and was the instigator of RVA’s 804ork cookbook project.
