As Financial Crimes Deputy Director at Truist Financial Corporation (Truist), Cara Wick leads the team responsible for model use and performance as part of Truist’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering, Office of Foreign Assets Control, and Fraud programs. Cara joined Truist (formerly BB&T) in 2014 as a schedule manager for the Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review (CCAR) FR Y-14 schedules. Prior to BB&T, she served as a Senior Consultant and Director of Marketing for One PacificCoast Bank in Oakland, CA (today Beneficial State Bank), where she developed customer intelligence analytics that helped reduce the bank’s cost of funds by 20%. She began her banking career in San Francisco, CA as a commercial underwriter specializing in Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loans.A graduate of the American Bankers Association (ABA) Stonier Graduate School of Banking, today Cara serves as a Stonier Capstone Adviser. She received her MBA from the University of Iowa and BA from Williams College. She is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) as well as a certified anti-money laundering specialist (CAMS).Passionate about banking, Cara also enjoys writing about it. She has contributed stories to the 'From the Vault' column of the ABA Banking Journal and also writes for Truist’s internal blog ‘The Hub.’ In her free time she likes to train for marathons in Charlotte, North Carolina where she lives with her wife and four-year-old daughter.
