Andrei Iancu is a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell and one of the country’s leading voices in IP law and innovation policy. He is a former Undersecretary of Commerce for IP and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Andrei has decades of experience representing plaintiffs and defendants in IP matters across the technical and scientific spectra before the district courts, U.S. International Trade Commission, USPTO, Federal Circuit and Supreme Court. He also counsels clients on obtaining, licensing, enforcing and defending against IP rights, and works with clients to shape their global IP strategies. Andrei co-founded the Council for Innovation Promotion, and the Renewing American Innovation Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, and M.S. in mechanical engineering and B.S. in aerospace engineering from UCLA School of Engineering.
