Andrea Ambrosini

Principal Member of the Technical Staff

Andrea Ambrosini is a Principal Member of the R&D Staff in the Concentrating Solar Technologies department at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Ambrosini’s research involves the synthesis, characterization, and development of functional materials for renewable energy applications, particularly solar thermochemistry driven by concentrating solar power. She has led projects for materials development and processes for green ammonia synthesis, CO2 and H2O splitting for hydrogen and fuel production, thermochemical energy storage, solar-selective absorptive coatings, and air separation. More recently, her research efforts have expanded into the decarbonization of industrial heat and chemical processes.

Dr. Ambrosini received her B.S. in Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University (University Park, PA) and her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL). Prior to joining Sandia, she was a post-doctoral fellow for the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) at Laboratoire CRISMAT in Caen, France. She has over 45 peer reviewed publications, 5 published patents and 4 patents pending.
