Amy Johnston

Clinical Director

Amy is a licensed clinician with extensive experience working in mental health, trauma and burnout. Amy studied at Northwestern University and The University of Chicago before moving to Dublin, Ireland, where she spent 5 years working in child protective services and inpatient mental health. Upon her return to Chicago, Amy joined the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Lurie Children's Hospital, where she worked as a medical social worker and team leader to support the mental health and wellbeing of patients, families and hospital staff. Amy took on her current role at Urban Wellness in 2019, and has built their Wellbeing at Work program to engage leaders in essential conversations about mental health at work, implement employee wellbeing assessments and provide customized mental health support for organizations where wellbeing is a priority and employee mental health matters.

As a clinician, Amy specializes in burnout, grief and trauma, and compassion fatigue. She is also a certified perinatal mental health specialist.

When you work with Amy, you learn about how mental health impacts everyone on your team and how stigma shows up at work. You'll be able to recognize signs of burnout and chronic stress in yourself and others and you'll build a toolkit of strategies to (re)build relationships, listen to learn, and cultivate a culture of trust and authenticity so that people can feel brave enough and safe enough to be themselves and do their best work. You will experience a palpable feeling of connection and a collective buzz of engagement when it all clicks into place.
